Service Learning

We are committed to supporting initiatives in the community around us, sharing the beauty of Woodland Star with those in need. As a school, we have done things such as hosted clothing drives, planted trees in an IDP community in the Rift Valley, and held a fundraising cricket tournament to help provide running water for a school in Limuru. It is our pleasure to do all that we can to share and connect with others around us, and we welcome new ideas and suggestions for upcoming projects. If you have a service project we could help with, or if you know of one, please feel free to contact us!

Apart from service events, we actively support individuals within our community as extracurricular teachers. Several after school activities are sourced from local teachers who are incredibly passionate about their professions. We celebrate the potential that these teachers add to our school, and recognize how they empower the communities around them. For example, our taekwondo teacher runs a small school in Limuru for severely impoverished children. There, he teaches them core subjects and trains them in martial arts, igniting passions and providing his students with a sense of hope and belonging. Many of his students have gone on to achieve black belts in taekwondo.

Lastly, we are adopting a scholarship program at Woodland Star School. We understand that private education has drawbacks, including exclusivity. As we’ve seen the unity within our community set down firm roots, we believe that we can raise the funds to keep or welcome some of the children in the vicinity of Woodland Star. We’re enthusiastic about including children from different walks of life in our school.
